This board is one in India which has adopted the 10 + 2 system of examination after 10 years from the beginning, the first high school examination took place and after the 10 + 2 phase, the Intermediate examination was held. In 1923, Prayag, Allahabad University was made the test center for these two examinations.

In view of the growing responsibilities of work in the years to time, the Board had to face a lot of difficulty in controlling its activities and operations in Allahabad. Such four Regional Offices of the Board were established in Meerut (1973), Varanasi (1978). , Bareilly (1981) and Allahabad (1987) under the control of regional secretaries. The Head Office is still in the form of all the executive heads with the Secretary in Allahabad. Now Regional Office in Ramnagar (Nainital), UP Has been separated from. Due to the creation of Uttaranchal, the board was formed as a new state by w.e.fr. 2000/08/11 At present, the Board is conducting the exams and preparing for the results of approximately 64 lakh students.
